Since their first edition of Accomplished Teaching, The Key to National Board Certification, the authors have had the privilege of conducting numerous presentations on National Board Certification and on candidate support. These include sessions at the biannual NBPTS conferences, 2003, 2005 and 2007. This second edition has resulted from their continued collaboration with one another, with candidates, and with other colleagues as they integrate current trends in education with the NBPTS Certification Process.
Bess A. Jennings, M.Ed., NBCT, is a Complex Area Resource Teacher for the Hawaii Department of Education. She has been a support provider for National Board candidates for over seven years. Bess also serves as an adjunct professor and Hawaii State Liaison for an online Master of Arts Degree in NBC Teacher Leadership offered by National University of La Jolla, California.
MaryAnn D. Joseph, M.Ed., NBCT, is the program coordinator for the New Jersey Educational Information and Resource Center NBPTS statewide support classes. She is a member of CAPP—the Committee to Pursue Professional Practice, a NJ group of professional and business persons who are working to promote the principles of accomplished teaching in New Jersey.
Frank J. Orlando, Ed. D., is the Chair of the Department of Foundations of Education in the College of Education at Rowan University. Dr. Orlando has authored/edited more than 20 books in the field of education. With co-author, Dr. Lynne C. Levy, his most recent publication is 15 Highly Effective Instructional Technology Tools (Kendall/Hunt 2007).
